DECIBEL: New Extreme Music Magazine To Hit Streets In September
July 15, 2004Decibel, the self-described "America's most exciting new extreme metal magazine," will launch in September.
"Decibel covers a scene which continues to reach new heights both artistically and commercially," said the magazine's Editor-In-Chief Albert Mudrian. "Decibel has a clear editorial focus — we won't be following trends, we'll be ahead of them."
Published by the Philadelphia-based Red Flag Media, Decibel magazine is "founded upon a steadfast commitment to quality, cutting-edge coverage of every subgenre under the expanding umbrella of extreme music," according to a press release. "Decibel has assembled the finest professional extreme music journalists in the world, including Aaron Burgess, Nick Terry, Iann Robinson, and Kevin Stewart-Panko. The glossy full-color monthly will rival any of its European counterparts, providing American metal, hardcore and extreme rock fans with insightful interviews, reviews, news, and a myriad of special features they won’t find anywhere else."
"This audience has been under-served for too long," said Publisher Alex Mulcahy, an 11-year veteran of the magazine publishing industry. "We feel like extreme music and the fans of extreme music deserve proper journalistic treatment."
Published 11 times a year with an initial circulation of 30,000, Decibel will be distributed by the largest magazine distributors in the United States, and will be available on newsstands throughout the country including Tower Records, Barnes & Noble, Borders and all relevant independent book and record stores.
